I really wanted to love this one, but I just couldn't. I've always been facinated with the elementals so I was drawn to this novel immediately. What I liked:The story is well written, but I wouldn't expect anything less because it was published by S&S. I also liked the elemental powers and how they played into story.What I didn't like:The main character. She was really tough and not very likeable. I'm a fan of strong female characters, but everyone has to loosen up at some point. No matter what situation she was in her reaction was cold. Also, the sex scene lacked. It took us almost 100 pages before we got to a sex scene and that includes kissing (which is odd in adult fantasy) and then she was tough then too. Even afterwards - it was weird.I don't want to push anyone away from this book. Keep in mind that this is a personal taste thing. I like romance, strong emotions, and hot scenes so it wasn't for me. Beyond the main character, the story was interesting and the writing was strong.
